Gordon Freeman wakes on a train in City 17, a dystopian city under alien occupation, and must use his signature gravity gun — a device that can pick up, hold, and hurl objects — to lead a resistance against the Combine empire. It told its story entirely through environment and NPC behavior, with no cutscenes breaking the first-person perspective.
